- Architecture Vertical Studio Fall 2023
- Project Lead
- 11 Weeks, September - December
- Individual Project
- Modelled in Revit, Rendered and Diagrammed in Procreate, Layout in Adobe
The purpose of my first vertical studio was to bring my professor's dream project to life: an ecologically sustainable living education and incubator center that provides long-term resident programs and short-term community building offerings that focus on ecologically responsible building, urban food production, and green transportation.
Essentially, we are designing a research/maker space, demonstration facilities, as well as, housing for students and staff, greenhouses, garden spaces, community gathering spaces, and workshops. The solution must integrate well with the site and the surrounding Eugene neighborhood.

Using a campus layout on the "L-shaped" site allowed the design to allocate unique spaces for each programmatic element. Rather than combining the spaces into one large building, I broke each student group into two distinct houses on opposite sides of the site that would serve as "cohort groups". By breaking the site in half on the diagonal of the ellipses courtyard, the invisible axis acts as a way to segregate the cohorts by their chosen field of environmental design: construction and agriculture. On the main street stands the Visitor Welcome Center and one of two Incubator Spaces which leads through the Community Garden and into the Interior Courtyard.
